Program settingsIn the first option you can select the language of Montax. Changes will take effect after the program is restarted.

The second option is to activate or de-activate Extended mode. This mode is intended primarily for offset printing and contains options like correction for paper thickness, splitting into signatures, working with more impositions and with more palettes Pages for imposition.

The following option is to select units which will be used throughout the whole program. Units can be set separately for sizes and for lines width.

Options "On startup" and "On Exit" allow you to customize the program depending on how you want to use it.

You can select one out of four options in "On startup":

  • Create an empty imposition
  • Create an empty imposition and load pages from a currently opened document in Acrobat (Plug-in version only)
  • Set appearance of the last opened imposition without loading its pages (pages will be loaded from a currently opened document in Acrobat - Plug-in version only)
  • Continue working on the last opened imposition including pages that were opened in it

Furthermore, it is possible to set whether Montax should ask to save an imposition when it is closed or if Montax should exit after generating a PDF.

Note: Deactivating Ask to save when you close the imposition is only recommended if you do not save imposition – When a imposition is not saved while closing Montax it will be lost. On the other hand if opening the last used imposition is selected, deactivating this option can be useful – You do not need to worry about saving your imposition and Montax will start right where you left.

In the next option you can select new imposition appearance (for example when clicking "New Impo" from the menu). The options correspond to the ones on the Imposition presets palette. The way in which sheets in Booklet style impositions are filled can be set – pages can either be oriented in the same way or their tops together (for cross-fold). It is possible to use an active imposition (or previously saved template) as a new imposition layout.

Clicking the Restore all dialogs button will make dialogs and messages that were previously marked as "Do not show again" appear again.

You can also set the number of undo steps and turn on/off the context help, animation of palettes movement and imposition preflight before PDF export.

Imposition settings

The next item of Edit menu is "Imposition settings". In contrast to program settings these preferences are stored together with the current imposition. The first item in this menu is bleed limitation. If pages have an unnecessarily large bleed, this bleed can be limited for automatic calculation (not applicable for example to manually changed bleed of positions). The last item affects the way in which sheets in Booklet style impositions are filled – pages can either be oriented in the same way or their tops together (for cross-fold).
